So new update on getting down to my trainer. It was a bit of a show due to the holiday and what not. The person I was going to ride with down to Morton left without me. I was trying to get in touch with someone for a few hours (this was at 6am). Eventually someone got back to me and said that they will just extend my stay at the hotel one more night since rental car closed today and I’ll get my own to drive down to Georgia tomorrow. It’s a good thing that I didn’t go with the other driver this morning though, since I would then have been stuck at the airport rather then the hotel. Not sure what’s going on after I get down south but I guess I’ll figure that out tomorrow.

Alrighty so here’s another update. It has been just short of a week here since I started orientation and (hopefully) I should be meeting with my trainer today. It has been a little bit of a hell since I made it down to Georgie with big communication gaps between me, my manager (who doesn’t work weekends) and my trainer. My trainers phone has been on the fritz so getting in touch with him at all has been rough. Finally got in touch and heard that he had no idea I was assigned to him and that he was on the other end of Georgia. Lost contact again and manager told me to get a hotel room for the night and they’ll reimburse me the cost while we figure things out. We’ll see how good they are at honoring that. This was between Friday night and Saturday (yesterday). Got the hotel yesterday and continuously tried getting ahold of my trainer. Nothing until this morning. I just dropped off the rental car and was waiting for him to pick me up at the airport like we discussed in the short call this morning when he called me asking if I dropped off the car yet. He needed a ride to get his tire fixed. Got a second rental car to head over to him and he said he got a ride and said if the company doesn’t pay me for the second rental car, he would. As far as I know, we’re gonna meet up at a truck stop near the airport. He’s gonna follow me when I drop off the car, then he’ll take me to the truck and I can actually start working. This has been a hell of a process so far. Hopefully communication clears up when I start using the Qualcomm to communicate to my manager and dispatch. I’ll keep y’all posted.

Finally met the trainer. Turns out he was on vacation and the company knew, that’s why it took so long for him to be back to meet me. He said if they told him they were sending me he would have said no and wait till next week. I’m in a hotel one more time but he got me a discount, I guess drivers get discounts sometimes? Either way he said he has to clean out his truck and whatnot. He’s gonna meet me back at the hotel for breakfast, follow me to the airport, take me back to the truck after I drop off the rental, and I should FINALLY begin training.
