Kllm really wasn't a bad company, just know that you will be out for 6 weeks with an otr trainer and from what I was told, you go when they say. Personally if I wouldn't have had the blood pressure mishap I would probably still be in the program. Just be careful before you sign if you aren't 100 % in think they said after you do sign you have 72 hrs to change mind. If going to burns harbor take your own food with you. Breakfast at hotel is well... something at least. Food at school was good. Good luck

Mint, I just ran across your thread and not sure what your dad decided, but I will say stay away. This company is full of promises in the beginning, but after a while they turn ugly. No a person who has financial obligations can not make it here. The amount they quoted is completely inaccurate and if he does a Lease Purchase for sure it is wrong. The average miles can be as low as 1800 to 2500, but after they nickle and dime you his check is more like 700-800 a week. That isn't enough for all the mess this dispatchers and planners takes a person through. Company drivers get treated really bad, but the ones who lie on other drivers will get miles as a thank you. Yep...snitches big time. The terminals are all bad but the one in Burns Harbor that was recently relocated. Plenty of parking, nice staff, nice showers only draw back is only two washer and dryers. He will often be asked to swap out heavy or over weight loads and once the swap is done it's now his problem. Torn up trailers, constant harassment isn't worth it. Try another company. Just incase you were wondering I am not a disgruntled employee I just believe in being truthful while others get on here and make up foolishness knowing you are headed for a life of misery and headaches

I went to school on my own, and went to covenant. I am thrilled. It's mostly team. We run 4000 to 6000 miles a week.

    You see a bunch of
MBAngel honestly speaking KLLM is like a meat packing company. Bring them in slaughter them then start over. Everyone is a number and that is it. If you speak up about issues you deal with you are retaliated against so most drivers keep to themselves except the ones who lie on drivers for miles.

Well, I do see their trucks. Not usually nice and pretty. Look well abused. I see their drivers being rude, but you can probly say that about any company.
But that's why I love covenant. New trucks. Trailers repaired quickly, and inspected regularly. Safety culture. Great benefits. Awesome fleet teams. Lots of miles; most weeks, I gotta run on recaps because they're so heavily booked.
And just about any lease purchase program is going to suck... I have heard a couple ppl that were happy, but it's way to easy to get the short end of that stick.
Go to school on your own. Research companies and find the flavor that's right for you. Theres dedicated, local, otr, regional, teams, solo, home daily... flatbed, reefer, dry van, specialty, shipping boxes... such a variety of ways to enjoy trucking.
