Driver and public safety not a big issue with this company by the sounds of it. Until something happens and then they end up with a huge law suit.

Thankfully, the knucklehead I referred to in the OP has since moved on.
Good riddance.
lovesthedrive Thanks this. -
To the original point, sometimes there can be a fault that has happened the driver is unaware of. Perfect example this winter I was coming across 70 in high cross winds, somehow my trailer door popped just right that it was partially open. I had seen it shortly after the occurrence, but where I was (and load well strapped) I got to a safer parking spot. Soon after I parked I was contacting the broker, when I got a call from my dispatcher because somebody had called. If I wasn't so uptight about checking my mirrors I could have went miles without knowing... many drivers today are so tuned in to their phone, music, or movie they don't pay attention to their surroundings.

When I was learning to drive with CR England. I had just gone off duty when the qualcomm started going nuts. Since the trainer was on duty and driving he asked me to see what was going on. Apparently a 4 wheeler whom didnt like CR England truck being on the highway said the trainer was on his computer watching porn! We both laughed and I replied back for the trainer that no he was not watching porn. He is running CoPilot on his laptop and that there was a Mercedes driving erratically in front of us and seemed like he had a death wish by trying to clip our front bumper and brake checking us. We resolved the issue by slowing to 45. Then another trucker passed us and the Mercedes went to be a nuisance to them. We did resume speed and eventually saw the yoyo again in front. We let him stay in front until after we left Ohio.
There are all kinds of drivers out there. That yoyo was a sight. I am glad I got to get the miles from them if anything to see what I did. -
Never a cop when you NEED one.

I have witnessed too many atrocities but the worst was a fully loaded dump pulling out of the quarry w/ # 2 rock and his tailgate totally unsecured spewing rock w/ every turn, bump &/or wiggle of his truck. I couldn't get his attention until he hit the interstate and even then he couldn't have cared less nor pull over to check his load. He wouldn't even slow down, lettering on the truck indicated OO. Rocks were flying everywhere, hitting windshields, etc... To make it worse, I finally called state police to help w/ the situation and stayed on w/ dispatch while I tracked him & they tried top intercept. However, I knew I was wasting my time when, as we finally approached an idle patrol car on the side of the highway, trooper backed up & hightailed it onto a service road so he couldn't be bothered. Sadly, as much as I see drivers pulled over for credentials, etc... I never see any stopped for unsecured loads and/or debris flying off their load.Last edited by a moderator: Oct 10, 2023
