I parked across the river at the Pilot I-70/55, exit 4. Caught a cab to the metro link train station on the IL side of river, then rode the train into St Louis, bought a day pass, went to Union Station, to the Arch etc. Cost me like 20 bucks all in, with my son.

Many Casino's such as the Ameristar in KC have truck parking.

USMC museum (Ooh-rah!) right off of I95 near Quantico, VA. I brought a trailer and parked where the buses park.

Google, Google Maps, WikiTravel, all good sources.
Most big cities have some sort of public transportation.
Sometimes as simple as asking a truck stop employee whats around and how to get around.
    Just have to be creative.

Station Casino in Vegas, Has truck parking, and drivers rates.
Its off the strip, across the interstate from Circus Circus, but they have a shuttle that will take you to either end of the strip. Or can rent a car in the lobby, Hertz I think.

Also found many Hotels/Motels with truck parking in areas that I want to see. Some have shuttle buses.
The cost of the hotel is usually worth it. Get to get out and see something besides filthy truckstops, and its a write off.
Stayed at a Travel Lodge in Daytona, right across from the Speedway. Asked the owner for phone# to cab to catch a ride to airport to pick up rental car, just down the road too, he took me, saved me a few bucks there, and Avis brought me back when I turned in the car.

I'm stuck in Sioux City right now, and I just went ice skating. I just happened to see the rink from the freeway, so when I parked, I did some googling and got the times for open skate and admission price. A laptop or smartphone is your friend for sightseeing.
