I was talking about the "bridge guy." Not the IDC driver. Big difference. And yet, it really is kind of the same. In both instances they were driving HUA. HOWEVER, that being said, I don't know what brought on the IDC/premix truck crash. If IDC was N/B on I 15 and that premix truck was entering the freeway from N. Las Vegas Blvd. and pulled in front of him, it does make a difference. But it is still a lack of attention.

That isn't to say that I think it should be the end of a 40 year accident free career, if that actually is the case.

As far as the bridge situation, there is just flatly no excuse for that.

Meh, I understand where the OP is coming from. I previously worked in a field where complacency wouldn't generally get you fired, it would generally get you killed. And I have to admit I had a few days in that job where I pushed the envelope just a little too much and it was only by dumb luck that I not only survived, but came back without a scratch on myself or the equipment.

Those experiences taught me just how easy it is to allow complacency to ruin your day. How it can sneak up on you despite your best efforts to avoid it. I consider myself extremely lucky for having learned the lessons I did the way I did. And because of that, I don't look down my nose at drivers who go years without an accident and then slaughter two bridges in one day. There but for the grace of God go I as they say and I try to remember that every day lest I fall into that same trap of complacency myself. Thinking you're too good to allow it to happen to you is the first step toward disaster.

It actually got taller. It moved the top back almost 3 feet and the aluminum roof sheet was sticking up and made the trailer 16' tall after that.
