Trying to become a trucker. I have no tickets. And one accident.

I was trying to pass and I bumped someone. It was $100 in damages. But it avoidable, and a rear ending, which according to the guy from Swift, is enough to disqualify me.

    Should I just give up?

just because one company says no ... go to the next .. in my current situation .. i had 24 no's right now and i am about to give up myself .. but i have not hit them all yet ...

dont give up .. try another company ... if you get to 40 all it takes is 1 to say yes .....

How long as it been since you had the accident?

Something to remember, at the moment many companies are being very picking because of the freight slowdown. Here in a few months when freight picks up the standards will start to slack off a bit.

Also keep in mind that when it comes to the driving record, the companies insurance company has the last word, not the recruiters.

    It's been a year.

There's no police report or anything. I sort of wish I had not told my insurance company about it. Of course then the idea of becoming a trucker had never occurred to me.

I'm not sure how I feel about trying weaker companies. I'm supposed to be working towards becoming a suit-and-tie accountant type, so this whole thing is still half-dream half-joke.

Bubba. You're right. I'll check my license, and if it's clean I'll throw myself out there again.

I read up on your plight. Have you considered looked into non-truck driving jobs? Maybe a school bus or something? Good luck out there.
