Just bought a retirement tractor today myself. Maybe it's a midlife crisis tractor, I don't know. It's 57hp for a whoppin 6ac or so to work. A bit of overkill, I know. Wife will remind me of that a lot from here on out.

    And no, it's not green.

LS. Almost got a Kubota, but sitting in the cab, I noticed where the gas cap is. Aw hell no! Not climbing on a tire to put fuel in the middle of the #### hood.

I hope this works out for you, you deserve a good job where you and the company are both happy.

Question for you - You said no working during the snowstorms, blizzards or ice storms.

But who determines whether you need to shut down for snow or not? You or your boss?

And what if you're daily route is safe to drive at the start of the day, but you and the owner know #### well that a snowstorm is coming and will trap you when the afternoon rolls around? Who determines whether you go out and drive or not, you or the boss?

Because many times a drivers opinion of safe to drive will be different than a dispatchers/owners opinion of what's safe to drive.

We will know the day before a storm hits whether we are working or not and the boss knows as well as I do that rural hilly county roads and tractor trailers are not a good mix during a storm .
The state roads are maintained 24/7 with the main routes having priority.
The hard surface county roads are a different deal as they maintained by the county and when I worked for my county those roads were plowed and sanded constantly from 4am to 6 pm...after that you were on your own ...if it was really bad with near zero visibility they would pull us off the roads .
The gravel roads had the lowest priority and usually didn't see a blade until after all the main roads were opened up .
During high wind storms with alot of snow it would be a losing battle to keep some roads open at all and it would take us days clearing 20 ft drifts to open them up .
One road I had was old us 6 going east out of council bluffs and during high wind storms it would blow shut as fast as I could plow it .

I asked my operations manager how they would run us in the winter…. He said if a storm was coming in, they would try to figure the tracking out then cut routes from there. My route is usually the first to be cut most of the time.

If that happens I’ll be staying in Fargo, or just get a paid day off or two. I also told him I’d have an overnight bag with me, just in case. He agreed. Lol

Here in Portland every manager seems to preach safety and what not until the snow and ice fly, and then magically it’s always good enough to run on. Funny how that works.

Had my first embarrassing moment today in my side hustle with mower repair and selling them .
A customer came yesterday and bought a machine I had for sale and have had for over a month using it for trim work , It looks like new and ran perfect starting first pull every time .
Customer asked if I could deliver it today and said sure .
So this morning I show up and unload the mower ( with all the neighbors watching of course) and the #### thing won't start for love or money .
I gave the guy his money back telling him I can't sell you that ..reloaded it and went home to figure out what happened as I had been all thru this thing .
Turned out at that moment the flywheel brake cable failed ....parts ordered and sold him a different mower as he needed one now .

Least you weren’t trying to sell him a broke “Bomb Proof” gelding that kids could ride that buried him so hard in front of a crowd that he came up with 2 layers of dirt attached to him— not that I would know about such things
