It's year round. It's a mostly dirt road, with some stretches of chip seal. Some of those stretches were probably better left as dirt. There are seasonal roads up there, mostly West of the Dalton, they build them up after the first few good freezes, once the temps stay mostly sub zero. They pack down snow, and water the packed snow until it builds up thick enough to support 150k gross weights or so. In the spring and Summer, the place where the road was is mostly mud, fallen trees, and rocks.

Still hauling grain and still happy being home every night .
The gentlemen that trained me retired a couple weeks ago so I inherited his black w900L studio sleeper with a 550 cat 13 speed with matching black trailer .
Harvest will be done in about 2 weeks for my boss which is good cause grain handling facilities are running out of places to put corn and beans and things will go back to 50 hour weeks and no weekends.
Haven't missed otr one bit !

Cargill in KC shut trucks off last week I heard because they were full. I can’t imagine how much they can hold to be at capacity.

    That sire
That sire alcohol plant on I 29 south of council bluffs has been full for over a week and only receiving corn as fast as they can process it .
As far as i know most of the elevaters around here are full to the point where they are out of room to pile it outside even .
Friday I ran 2 loads of corn out of 1 elevator to another elevator where what I dumped went right on a train .

Elevators here are starting to run out of room too. Seems like it might be a good problem to have, but I don’t know if it is or not.

I’ve only loaded wet feed out of SIRE, and after driving past it for years on end and seeing it I thought it was gonna be a nightmare. That’s one of the best places I’ve ever went.

Take my lunch to work everyday, home every night so no 18.00 showers , no paid parking , no trip planning for parking if I can find it , seldom see interstate roads unless I'm empty, paid for every minute of my day , never deal with jerks and make just as much as I did running the road .
Other than harvest off on weekends.
I can see why otr is losing it's appeal to older drivers ! It certainly has for me .
