Where did you load in Denver going to Maryland? Was that a broker load? Glad to hear you are enjoying the ride.

Hi, I rarely get on here but was surprised to see all the info since the last time I was here. I'm been with Magnum for just over 1 year. I was surprised to see ncmicky here, I talked with him about school but didn't realized we were at the same company now. It's going great for me I love it so far. A recent post was about a trainer named Jeff, that's who I spend my month of training with last may. He was awesome and will still help me out anytime I call. I will have to put a bookmark for this forum on my phone so I come back. How everyone is enjoying life.

Wow, cant remember the last time I was on here, have been running hard for sure. right now I am at the end of my home time (always goes fast). went to check peoplenet and found my battery dead, in fact it didn't have enough juice to start the APU. I called the after hours number and waiting on a response. I will say that other than a smoother ride and some bells and whistles I preferred my old truck (1003 and new one is 1401) at least she didn't have issues like this truck does. For some reason the APU in this truck will not start up unless I mess with the thermostat so I guess that will get addressed as well before I go. First 2 months solo I averaged over 12000 miles a month so really happy with that.

Ah hometime, after being on the road for a month it feels good to be sitting in the living room writing this. Taking a short 4 day break from the road to recharge, I've been busy both running on my 70 and recaps and even had time to do my first hazmat load.

Magnum dispatch for the most part has been great about getting me miles, I did have to take a 3 stop trip to Dallas (likely a more experienced driver didn't want it) that took a bit more time than I wanted, but I was able to see friends and the load they gave me next had good miles to NC and back to help make up for it. I tend to over communicate, but hey that's what they asked for and I keep getting decent runs so I'll keep it up.

Magnum is getting a lot of new 2016's in, although I have a 2014 with only 220K on it so I'm not complaining and they do take care of problems when you bring them up - it's nice not having to worry about my truck like friends who drive for some of the mega's.

Downsides, well pay as always could be better for a new guy, but hey at least Magnum moves you from newbie pay to full performance pay faster than most. Dispatch, well keep in mind when you are new that well you are new. Get some time under your belt and establish a good rep and things improve, but hey drivers who have been with the company for years will get some of the nicer runs, your time will come just be patient.

OTR is a lifestyle and so long as you understand that you can do very well with Magnum, they will help you make decent money (they are working to continue to increase driver pay - we'll see over time) and other than the normal reefer weird delivery times the work is not to bad. Well, that's my update, hope everyone is doing well out there!

    ncmickey and runningman0661 Thank this.

I definitely want to go to Magnum when I finish school! I hear nothing but good things about them in this entire thread. Being that I am going to be living in Atlanta when I finish school, is there be a drop yard or somewhere I could leave the truck during hometime? Don't plan on taking much hometime, but still a concern.
