Well on second thought, there is the matter of the $40k to tag and insure them. Government really sucks. You'd think they realize the economy would be better and even they would make more if they just split it up into 12 payments.

And we vote for this crap... who are the bigger idiots?

Where have you been???? JB Hunt has been doing Lease Purchase since 2002. This is a lease purchase. You can't take the truck no where until you have paid for it. They are old, old, old, trucks.
Oh yeah! Very few drivers make it to the end of the lease. Surprise

Do you live under a rock? They have been doing this for some years now I think they are still trying to locate someone who paid a truck off over there.

    Nope...it's not a lease purchase. :biggrin_25525:

It's an outright sale of the truck, financed by them.

I'm sure they're going to tie enough limitations to the contract, the dummy who bites has to lease it on with them.

They're following in Werner's footsteps on selling their trucks, although Werner has never offered "such a deal"...

Well, I don't anything about them actually "selling" trucks on a payment plan, I doubt it. Their plan is to recycle as many drivers as possible through those trucks. Its how they make a bunch of money. Hell you think those trucks have not paid for themselves time and again?
If I did not already own a truck, and was just starting out as an O/O, I would buy a truck from the Wal Mart fleet. They are cheap cheap cheap, well mantained and have an APU. Don't know for sure but I would say those trucks have not had thousands of drivers in them like JB Hunt trucks. JB Hunt trucks also have sucky gear ratios. They are geared to run slow. To run say 65 mph, your revs are way up there. Not good for MPG

The trucks they are "selling" and not leasing have been leased and were turned in.

In other words, JB has leased that truck out to 2,3- or maybe more contractors that wanted to be leased O/O's and failed.

Instead of auctioning it off, they bang out the dents, put an air freshener in it and sell it to...YOU.

For $1,000.00 a month for three years. And if you want to work "with" them you'll give them..... Let's see- 1,000 times 36 = $36,000.00. Plus all the profits on the insurance and permits you'll need, plus profits from the fuel you bought through their fuel purchase system, profits from the recapped tires you'll put on in their shop (recapped tires they ran bald on company trucks).

JB Hunt will tell you that you're business partners. Truth is, they own you and like a leech, they suck you dry then replace you with another leased or contracted O/O.

    Good Luck with that.

Anyone remember Midwest Dist, North American (back in the day) Prime, Bestline? All these were rackets to steal your money and your labor. Hopefully there isnt many younger drivers falling for this old three card Monty trick.
