A new tanker yanker

    I had a feeling that the upper management didn't know squat. Checking to see if you can float and making it a requirement is just lack of knowledge to me. Sure after awhile I would say shift how you like but first show me that you know what gear to be in at any given time. It's a shame you lost out what could have been a great job but when the upper people that are in charge of what you do not know enough about the job then you're better off. Go out and try to find the same type of work. I can guarantee this type of company is rare. Try gasoline.

    I agree. Asking a new driver that's still wet behind the ears to float the gears is just silly to me. Floating gears should the at the very bottom of the to-do list.

    If he were my trainee, my intructions would be to shift in the most efficient manner he knows. Getting one's proverbial "sea legs" when pulling tankers should be job #1.
