I plan on spending at least my first three years with minimal home time. My plan is 3 - 4 months OTR and then 4 days home. If a company would like a driver that doesn't need to be routed "home" and only wants to put in miles, then I would assume they would want that driver to have what he/she NEEDS to make his/her life comfortable within reason. I'm hoping the company allows an inverter which can run a microwave if I'm willing to be out without concern about getting me back home.
Current drivers... Please tell us what you use to keep your food cold/frozen, what you use to cook, how/where do you clean your food prep equipment?
Who do you use or are you considering using for internet access nationwide? How is the service working or what have you heard... How much is the cost?
What about tv? Do you subscribe to a service or is there a service you are considering? How is the service you are using or why are you considering using this service... How much is the cost? Anybody use slingbox?
Any words of advice about making life a little more comfortable?
I appreciate all your input.

Different companies have different rules concerning inverters. If you plan to use a micro or anything else, this is an important question to ask a prospective company.
The company I lease onto, provides inverters and apus to all their company trucks.
But not all companies do that.
I use a micro and have a small refer for food.
Don't have a TV.
hope that helps.shoelessjoe and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -

I have a Koolatron KCR40 fridge which will run off either the 12v plug or a 110 plug. I use a "lunch box oven" for cooking and reheating. I wash dishes in a sink.
I have a "hot spot' from Verizon. It works almost anywhere, with some obvious exceptions in those middle of nowhere kinds of places. I pay $35/month for 3 gigs of data, and I can use both my laptop and my iPad with it.
I don't watch TV.shoelessjoe Thanks this.
