Yeah that may be why, we run 12 volt.
And to be honest all I've ever seen in big rig racing over in Australia and Europe are usually scania. One of the guys said to the camera "of course I won, if i wanted anything but 1st place id buy a Volvo" lmao. Thought that was ridiculously funny.
They won't make new v8's today for rigs. The EPA is killing it too. I doubt they can make a v8 diesel in America that gets the same fuel mileage as an inline 6 and still puts out the same HP and torque.
Cat has the 3408, sounds sick with straights. But everyone says its not known for its fuel mileage lol

A 730 hp v8 can achieve 11mpg's ( 9.7 approx us mpg's ) at 97,000lbs, torque is over 2600ft/lbs, a 560 hp v8 has 1991 ft/lbs torque compared to cats c16 575 hp has 1850 ft/lbs , also the Scanias sweet spot is between 1100 and 1300 rpm, they are a low revving high torque engine,Oh and they are euro 6 compiant for emissionsDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
On a very cold winter night, there was always a couple that wouldn't start.
And bump starting won't start them. The batteries were probably in bad shape to begin with, and a cold snap would render them useless.
There were the few that had a light left on that died from stupidity, but the minus 20C nites would take its toll.
And the batteries are where the passenger seat was, inside the cab.
The local freightliner shop told us that under a certain voltage, the injectors (ecm?)wouldn't operate.
And we have tried to bump start them when we first got them, to no avail!
Being day cabs, I bet there was no low voltage disconnect like a sleeper unit would have. Maybe this is why some have started and ours won't?
Call guinness anyways, maybe they will bring free beer (pointing to scania man)The Bird and Scania man Thank this. -
euro 6 is almost the same as epa 2010.
I have read on car forums that over the next cople of years, North Americans are going to see alot more diesel autos from Japan Korea and Europe.
Since the emissions are coming inline, and there is no longer an added expense to modify for the US market with low sales for diesels.
Sorry for the off topic.....
now back to your regularly schedule fight over those stupid auto trannys, i mean transmissions.Cat sdp and Scania man Thank this. -
Scania are already a big player in industrial and marine engines in the US, Volkswagen now own scania and I'll bet they will want to sell them in trucks there very soon,
You already have euro engines there like mercedes, maxxforce and Paccar engines, maxxforce and Paccar are complete rubbish tho! -

In the 80's we got a few Scanias with Mercedes engines.
Actually they were ADE engines but that is just a generic Mercedes.
In the 70's there were Mack/Scania V8's available.
No auto's in any of these.Scania man Thanks this. -
