Everything seems to be for the children in California. A state where 30% of the country's welfare recipiatants live. All because we cant let children go hungry. I thought that was the parents responsibility? Anyway, nobody would have a problem with CARB if the didnt make us get rid of our older trucks. Kind of like cars, if you get a new one, it has certian emissions on it

And if you all may recall....The "scientist" that Mary Nichols used was not accredited....By any college or university....He had NO Degree!!!!!!

Yet Nichols went forward with "Bad Science"....Which gave us the CARB regs we have today....

Nichols has to go...She has been running CARB since it's inception back in the 70's when Moonbeam appointed her to CARB.....

It should have been by attrition....And also....If you had a newer and compliant Rig....You should get "Environmental Credits" to offset your taxes....Lower Registration Fees....And IFTA payments.....

It is by attrition. The 96s and up are being killed off unless they upgrade. : 0)

Here in Indiana we want your old trucks! Those who bet the farm that CARB wouldn't stick are stuck. I'll buy that old truck... cheap, of course.

It's the free market you like to tout until it bites you in the ...

    and who's the crybaby now??

I guarantee before the end of this decade...CARB regs will be on a national scale....

There are already "No Idling" Laws in many states.......

What's to stop states from following Cali's lead like they have done since forever?

That's a fair assumption. But no-one knows yet exactly what impact these regs are going to have. There's tons of anecdotal stuff out there, companies leaving CA, companies positioning buying up brand new trucks, huge new crossdocks in states bordering CA. Only time will tell if it's truly disastrous or a year to two hiccup. Same thing with any rates that might shoot up (allegedly already have and are according to some) on outbound CA freight. Trucks will always gravitate to better rates. Great rates never last. But again, only time will tell.

I was planning on going to December 31, 2022....That's when CARB says I have to replace my rig....

I figure after the first of this year....That the CARB Regs will give those of us who are compliant about 3-5 years of great rates since by CCTA (California Construction Truck Association) own numbers....50-60% of the trucks running in Cali won't be compliant.....

So...I now plan on retiring or rather "Semi-Retiring" after 5 years in 2019.....
At that point....I'll get at least 80% of my Teamster pension.....Sell my rig....And my O/A has to be worth some money too.....

I truly think that that CCTA's numbers are way off. Some of us remember them as CDTOA. LOL. Think about this, if you own three trucks or less, only one has to be CARB compliant in January. Now the rate cutting S.O.B. that is running around with junk trucks only has to buy one 2008 truck, which can be had for as low as $30k. Which mean he doesnt have to raise his rates. I know this sucks. Question is does the out of state carrier with three or less trucks have to meet the same requirements or does every truck he sends into CA have to be compliant?
