    Me too.

Glad I didn't spend a bunch of money on a potentially troublesome new truck.

I don't plan on going to CA much anyway. 5000 miles annually should work. And are they gonna bother checking anyway?

Ok....I haven't had time to check my emails from CARB this week...But on Landline Now they discussed CARB '14...
So far the law will go into implementation on the 1st of Jan 2014....
There currently is a 1000 mile per year exemption for OUT-Of -STATE trucks...
Cali IRPed trucks will not get any exemptions....
However...CARB is going to present an amendment to the exemption for OUT-Of -STATE trucks....
Which will be formally presented to SAC on April 1st....
CARB seeks to allow the exemption to go to 5000 miles per year for OUT-Of -STATE trucks....

This really pisses me off, we run about 50,000 miles a year in Cali, I could have EASILY bought two more pre emission trucks, along with the 8 I had, and managed them to only run about 5,000 a year each, rather than buying 9 new, and/or nearly new trucks.

Yes you can put a brand new engine in an old 70's Shaker....But a new engine require new cab electronics...

Hence the reason why I decided to sell my '97 Pete and buy new....
We figured out a new engine with everything else we needed...Would cost around $80K...
New tractors with warranties....Were between $110K-$125 back in '10.....Made more sense to do that and have a warranty.....

Who chided you for getting a glider? Heck that's about the only way to go now days to get a motor that'll run in a new truck.

A lot of folks gave me a hard time saying that eventually everything would go to CARB standards across the country and I wouldn't be able to use the truck for very long. Got to thinking they were wishing they had done it instead of getting one of the newer emissions trucks.

You did exactly what I would have done, my only problem was that I can't (logistically) write Cali, off my URC.

What im kind of curious about is how they are going to enforce the 5000 mile a year rule? Im thinking through IFTA. However, they wont even know for a year when someone sits down and cross references every VIN number with engine model year with number of miles reported in CA for the last year. Im starting to think this was a huge scare tactic to get people to buy newer trucks or put DPF filters on. The only people this screws is people who actually live and register their trucks in CA. I think CARB figured out they were going to cause a huge economical mess if they tried to hard to implement this on out of state trucks.
