But what is the ratio for compliant rigs to non-compliant rigs?

IIRC there was survey conducted about a year ago and most rigs on the road in the US were between 2000 and 2004....

Most single pony O/O's can't afford to buy a new rig....Have a $2500+ mortgage and still remain profitable with the current rates.....

 

But I am wondering if there would be another scenrio involved, one like how a lot of Canada freight is handled, with cross docking of freight in order to be more cost effective to the carrier with the lack of compliant trucks.

Yes, there are dozens of new cross dock buildings popping up all over the west side of Phoenix. That still doesnt help non compliant trucks. They will be stuck in Phoenix trying to get loaded out. Common wisdom would dictate that loads coming out of California would unload at the Phoenix cross docks to be reloaded on non compliant trucks to be shipped cheaper to eastern destinations. The reality is that the cost of cross docking, paying for loading/unloading, etc... causes the price to level out if the load is only going to Dallas, Chicago, etc. If its going all the way to New Jersey thats another story but you can see how non compliant trucks will have a hard time making money operating west of the rocky mountains. The same thing happens (to a lessor extent) to loads going westbound. If a shipper in Denver or Dallas is trying to get freight to a port in California, its not feasible to pay $2 a mile to Phoenix, pay a few hundred dollars to cross dock, then pay $3 a mile to California. Usually shippers who have an unlimited time schedule like that will just ship by rail.

Except not at all.... Most of these companies are going under for lack of ability to live up to warranties.

 

The reputable shops still standing ie dealers dont seam to be reporting these warrunty and maintenance. Issues...heck the underlying problem seams to be maint on the truck leading to these failures blown turbo or injector
Dont getme wrong i object to the overall costs but really if the product was failing that much wouldnt we see more people online actually complaining about their personal experiences with them like people with egr problems all over the forums
