This is a 10 we're talking about right?
I don't know how guys can make these recommendations without knowing more details....could be a 3.90 single over or might be a 2-thirty something direct. I've been driving a deep reduction 15 single over trans with a 3.90 rear all summer and I wouldn't think about starting in 4th. Why do that to the clutch? I always start no higher than 1st (low range, not deep reduction) and then you can skip to 3rd. But that's just me.
And no you do not have to have apply fuel as you let out the clutch. Just start out in 1st and keep your foot on the brake until she grabs. Sounds to me like you need a new trainer. Do as Rambling man says and you will be fine.
a pro at upshifting ,downshifting but I can't start on anything but 1st in 10spd

RESPECTFULLY SPEAKING:
It seams as though a whole group of professional truck drivers, a good many of them with a good many years of honest to goodness professional experience, CANNOT AGREE on which gear(s) to start the truck from.
HOLY MOSES!!CargoWahgo Thanks this. -

Is this post or most of the replies for real??? HAHAHAHA. Look man you start dropping clutches on your CDL road test, you're gonna have a bad time. Use the #### gears, correct roll back before you trash your DAC Without ever being employed, and hope to god your mentor at CRE or whatever company hires grads from your school is patient.
