A question for y'all...if you get ticketed during a DOT inspection for things like load securement or expired fire extinguishers, do they count as traffic violations? I know seat belt tickets do, but what about other mickey mouse stuff?

I got an unsecured load ticket in 2008 by DOT. It was a no-points violation on my license and it was before CSA went into effect so no points there but.........it showed up on my MVR and then my insurance wanted to raise my rates. I wrote them a letter and said I will not pay higher rates since my record otherwise was clean. They agreed not to raise my rates. A short answer to your question, I would say some of that will show up on your MVR but more importantly it will probably go against your CSA score depending upon what it is.

No points on DL!! But your csa points r taking a hit tyms 3!!!! Load securment hit!! Not good other employers fron on that !! No excuse for that one!! Secure your load
-
Normally I would agree with you, but in this case the load securement was fine until the newly graduated rookie shot his mouth off and made a stink. The older (more experienced) guys didn't care, since this was a van load, but they had to back the idiot rookie over the driver.....

Sounds like the rookie knew and cared more and was more professional than the older guys and the driver...

You can pretty much rely on what you see is what you get. If you get an inspection report it will go on your CSA. If you get a ticket or summons it will go on your MVR.
There will be times you are issued both for the same thing. Like a seatbelt violation in IA is a secondary offense which they can't pull you over for. What they do is pull you over for an inspection as an excuse, issue it with the FMCSA violation on it then add the ticket to get in your wallet.
You'll never get a ticket from some local yocal who is not DOT qualified and it mysteriously shows up on your CSA. Only your MVR.
Louisiana you get an inspection spanking and 3 weeks later you will get a ticket in the mail. Those go to both reports.
Then again you might meet a nice leo and he'll write the violation on an inspection report and not give you a ticket. That goes just to the CSA report. He'll tell you he cut you a break, lol. Yeah right!brsims Thanks this. -
A few days ago, I got a ticket for having my tandems too far back; Michigan State Police LOVE those tickets. No points on the CDL but $165 for the state.

I was bobtail and got put OOS in orogrande, NM due to defective slack adjusters being out of adjustment on one axle. Company took care of the citation and got it knocked from a $500 fine down to a $131 which I paid.

Do I get points for my front tire thread below the 2/32?
