A quick question for a rear gear ratio guru.

    If I bought a truck with:

    11R22.5 rubber

    Eaton Fuller 10spd trans. (Not sure which model, but I'm pretty sure it's an O/D trans)

    and 5.29 rear gears,

    what would the cruising RPMs be at 65, 70, and 75mph?

    Are you sure about 5.29s ? If that's correct, it's a stump puller.....

    go on Eatons web site and it has a calculator where you plug in all those #s and it will give you rpms/ speed....

    500 revolutions per mile for the 11r22.5s

    10 spd overdrives usually have .74 or .75 final gear, using .75:

    1984 rpm at 60

    2149 at 65

    2314 at 70

    2480 at 75

    Is this a single axle? If this were a line haul tractor, I'd double check that rear end ratio.

    I have 4.33's. I won't cruise faster than 65 and won't go faster than 70 if I've really got to pinch her to get around someone.

    It's a truck i was looking at on truck paper dot com.
    I can only assume the seller checked themselves before listing the specs. I'm sure it was some sort of construction/vocational truck. It had a huge tubular steel headache rack and only 1 fuel tank. Very low miles but high hours.
    I was just curious if a truck would even be highway-worthy with gears like that.
    I guess not. I'd kill myself if i had to drive around @ 55mph.
    The truck had a C12 Cat. I'm told they have very low cruising RPM speeds.....

    Sounds like you're describing an oilfield winch truck, which may well have had an auxiliary transmission, and thus another OD to bring the final drive ratio down some more. If it had an .80 in aux to go with the .75 main, you'd get .6 * 5.29 = 3.17, which is still short geared, but far more manageable than the 3.97 you'd get with just a 10 speed
