Do not buy Dell Computers. The reason for this is I recieved a defective one from Dell. About a dozen replacement HDD's and 5 replacement laptops the problem wasn't fixed. The problem I had was software that was originally installed on the first laptop that became defective thru no fault of mine. After all this Customer Service basically told me to live with it today when I told them the problem still wasn't fixed.

Why not just get a refund. They replaced you HDD 12 times and exchanged computers 5 time. Make you go Hummmm. After the second time I would have let them keep it and got my money back. I have a Dell Dimension 9100 I have had for a while got it when they came out with dual core 5,6,years ago only problem i had was/is my fan on my video card went out about 3 or 4 years ago and still haven't got it replaces and when I first got it I called Customer Service about one of the DVD recorders was not recognizing one brand of DVD but just had to update software

They replaced the laptop 5 times, yet the software only was on the 1st one that affected the 1st one? or is this a 3rd party software that you are installing?

    and 12 hard drives?

I suspect more to this story,,, never had that many hard drives and laptops go bad because of software..

Hmmmm....I bought a Dell four months ago and love it. I also bought one of their USB Digital TV receivers so I use my lap top for my TV. I messed it up a month ago....unplugged it improperly. Didn't want to work after that. I contacted them via email and they called me. Within ten days I had a new one in the mail and sent pack the broken one at their cost.

Personally, I've been thrilled with the interaction I've had with Dell.

It may not be your hard drive or the software. I may be the BIOS is no good, and if that's the case then you could put a 100 HDD's in there and it won't fix the problem.
