Just listening to what trucking companies are saying about hiring new drivers in.
Like I said you can like it or not, but they are figuring ways for way more day cab positions and less sleepers. They are having problems finding folks that want to drive period. Hell most of this generation does not even want to drive cars. Let alone look at a career driving trucks.
It helps them on utilization of equipment to build yards and run day cabs. I see Swift, JB Hunt (DCS and FM), Pumpkin following an Averitt type model.
Driver A drives 12 hours, and returns to yard and Driver B gets in and works his shift. Freight is almost in constant movement, drivers are saved the parking issues people claim, trucks get used more.
It is a win win for everyone. Not all sleepers will go away. But the trend is away from what folks consider old school over the road.
