I’m not going to say “Rome is burning”. It isn’t. Every generation sees the end, but only one of them is going to be correct.

No way, even with higher wages, will the Americans who could do these Agricultural jobs - would do these jobs. I’ve never seen a more clear cut predictor for a paradigm shift towards mechanization. Not that I like or want that.

As far trucking goes...everyone bemoaned the loss of the expert advice always available at the local hardware store. Then Home Depot beat the #### out of them and put them out of business. The influx (myself included) of new drivers is just a market response. It’s the new normal. Sad to think of myself as part of the problem. That’s new to me.

Hell no. But this industry is pretty trumped out.

I personally don’t like either side and laugh at all these republican’s and democrat’s puppets fighting with each other.

I’m sick of our overbearing government. Remember when the british taxed us 3% on tea and we killed them?

Now apparently it’s ok to have everything regulated and taxed and we can just argue with each other about a bunch of corrupt politicians who don’t give a #### about us.

From the future here; driver pay is way up. As a fuel hauler, I'm at $35 an hour. However, the quality of driver is down. Seems drivers don't know how to NOT burn up their brakes going down a hill. Or dim their brights... or stay in their lane... or get the #### off the fuel island.

The biggest one for me is stay in ther lane. Every week I have to swerve a few feet as some clown passes me grinning down at his cell phone five feet over in my lane. This used to be something I had to do maybe once a month to avoid having my mirror taken off when I first started driving three years ago. Now it’s #### near a daily thing.

Actually there's some trucks now which will pop on the brake lights when the engine brake is in use.

Thanks to movies like Smokey and the Bandit and TV shoes like BJ and the Bear the world of trucking was glamorized 30+ years ago. My father retired in 1992 and one of his largest complaints was the quality of drivers was MUCH lower. This thread is at least 25 years too late!

A license qualifies a person, whether they have the common sense to be diligent and pay attention to the task at hand is a whole different game. Majority of accidents are simply a moments lapse of attention or stupid decisions.
