the guy in the shop said its a possibility they might total out my assigned 2017 T880 with a MANUAL 18 speed transmission. my boss has only been buying autoshift junk. i sure hope this doesnt happen because i will be tempted strongly to look for another job. i already told my boss.... looks like the truck is fixable, good thing because i am uninterested in driving an autoshift..... funny thing is i know of several milk hauler who are NOT purchasing auto-shift trucks. the saleswoman at kenworth northeast has those has him convinced those things are somehow better, in reality it allows him to hire less qualified drivers..... who sadly cant even shift a truck..... dont know what a clutch is, a range selector, or how to split gears.

i sure hope they fix it up for me. i always drove as in the last truck i wanted to drive at walton. i was hoping to get 5-10 years out of it..... then this happens.

i'll take pictures of my truck if i please. i have not mentioned any names, even if knew the name of the guy that hit me i could care less. the damage done to the truck was caused by his actions.

Always take picture, always for your own protection.I think what was mentioned, is it is not always a good idea to post them on any public site or social media, in case of a law suit, the other side has your pictures.
I hear you on rhe auto, but from what I am hearing the auto is now the standard from KW, any standard tranny is an option. It is either as of now or coming very soon.

It is funny, now some years are hot because of the eld, some years are hot because of emmissions, in a few years more years will be sought after for a real tranny. lol

Even tho you were not at fault it goes on your record , I had a friend that got hit , car crossed centerline , so when he changed jobs he had to produce a bunch of paperwork to clear his name you are basically being penalized for being there.

In Texas all that showed up on my record for the insurance company, was I was an accident, it did not show fault assigned. I had to pay them ten bucks for the proof it was unpreventable, just for my insurance company.

    It's his trucks,
    It's his money,
He buys the trucks he wants,
You have no idea what he pays for the trucks.
    Manual or automatic.

If he gets you a automatic, you'll either drive It,
    Or move on.
    He'll keep going either way.
    Your just a driver,
    We're all just drivers.
Totally replaceable at the drop of a dime.

Never think somebody who owns a truck needs you.
You'll only get your feelings hurt.
    This is business.

So your gonna quit a job you like, and had
For over 2 years if you don't get a stick.
    You better think about that.
I can tell you from 25 years of experience,
Nobody's gonna lose a minutes sleep when
You leave. It's next man up.
    The beat goes on.

Let's say he gets you a brand new truck with
A 18 speed to make you happy.
Then you quit a month later for a better job.
Now he's stuck with something he didn't want
    To begin with.
Your long gone,so what do you care.

    See what I'm saying here.
This is not about what you want,
He's got to do what's right for his business.
    He's paying all the bills.

Hop in that automatic for a month.
If you don't like it,then leave.

Hotplate, FlaSwampRat and buddyd157 Thank this.

sure he can buy whatever he wants, and i can work where ever i want. he complains frequently that he does not have enough drivers. when you are unwilling to meet someone half way, who has control of driver retention? dont complain your short drivers

I think smaller companies dont think that way. They care more about their good drivers and want to keep them. Now the megas are a different story.
