    This sure is a fun thread, started by truckdad, I believe. It's helped me remember so many cool trucks, and unlike today, there were a bunch of them. The Bisons that I saw were pretty short, with half the motor in the cab, like the Ford. Every once in a great while, you'd see a decked out General at the pumps. It was sure a fun time to be trucking!

    Here is a pic I found recently in another old album. My dad in 1953 and an old ( or new at the time) Autocar. I think this is in Oxnard, CA

    If it was '53, truck had to be pretty new. I believe '53 was the 1st year for the new Autocar "Driver Cab". The bald drive tires and drippy fuel cap suggest this truck was not brand new.

    Semi, I think anything back then less than 5 yrs old might have been considered new! Lol

    That is the same cab that White Western Star used until 1974 I think
    they then updated to a similar cab with round bottom corners.
    White trucks used the same cab too just with different dash panels.
