I'm looking at starting at ABF after I get my 2 years experience . Does it give me an advantage that I am already in the Teamsters Union?

I meant as far as being hired on, would the company look more favorably on being Union already; boosting my chances of being hired on? Or maybe there's some language in ABF's contract stating that they would have to hire a Teamster over an outside applicant first... any ideas?

Never had a DUI. I have actually been offered many other jobs and I am considering UPSF.

I think I will just go with UPSF. Their pension is more solid. I have 5 years in Central States and UPS pension accepts that vested time towards retirement. Plus, Central States is at an all time low.

You never worked for either ABF and UPSF, Their is a big difference between the companies, Spend time at each company :biggrin_2559:
currently employed by conway does not count. Why would you say that in a ABF thread?

I remember when I first wanted to get into trucking and applied for ABF back in 6/2011 paid for my own CDL and now I know why it took so long for me to get a call. They just move slow; well I ended up going to the Oilfields with Big Red and have been here ever since; but If I could get a 100K; and get back to the Seattle area I'm all in for the move back home.

Granted I got 100K here in the bag, and its good job... There's a certain ring about Home, now working in the Oilfields in Cement is very similar to both these jobs combined. Where your not only driving but your working with the equipment; hooking and dropping and unloading and loading. Either your on duty for 2 weeks straight and off 1 week too the point your working 6 on and 3 off depending on what camp your working for.
The calls in the middle of the night, or as soon as your break is up. You never quite get use to looking at that phone clock; and knowing that its going to ring 10 hrs on the dot.

Currently I'm in S. Texas but 100K and 30% cost of living cheaper has made it difficult for me to even imagine getting back home anytime soon. Even though when I was in the Pan Handle making 70K it still would have to be 90K+ in the numbers.

Thanks for posting this info; I'm sure I'm not the only eyes just looking over this.
