Ups occasionally delivered new trailers for different companies. They got the revenue for the delivery and also loaded the trailer towards the final destination. It looks like a new trailer so this could be the case. However out west you will routinely see a several LTL companies pulling each other's pups. Usually an imbalance of freight going a certain direction.

Yeah that has to be a new trailer cause it isn't bashed all to hell yet and don't look like it's been upside down .

I saw a Clipper Trailer this week OMG it was on a rail car because that's what Clipper does and it was beat to heck old SB 2000 Refer held together by hopes and dreams I can't believe the thing was even loaded and sent on a train across the country.

Actually some intermodal trailers are pretty shabby.

Many other companies pulling freight for the LTL's Heartland, Covenant, Schneider, Werner, CR England, CRST all seen in YRC yards daily. They are allowed to move between Distribution Centers only, taking traffic that would have been loaded on the railroad.

I can believe that. I'm sure the Covenant and CRE drivers are getting paid a lot less than what the linehaul driver would get for the load.

I know Schneider has single axle sleeper cabs pulling YRC trailers I see them on the road sometimes.

You know Schneider did not spec those single axles just to fill in .

For sure. Of course that doesn't mean the companies don't charge the LTL a whole lot more than they pay their drivers. If they are just using the bottom feeders to take up the extra freight during certain seasons, it will still be cheaper than hiring their own drivers.

Just too throw this in. UPS pays something like .89/mile to line haul guys, but only offers 1.00/mile + fsc to the IC's. Who would lease on for that kind of money?

    Mike2633 Thanks this.
