Pretty sure only a few UPSF barns are union. The union UPS LTL guys are the parcel guys.

Let me set this straight. I work for UPS Parcel and we are Union. All the UPS Freight barns (the LTL side of the company) are union. All the UPS Parcel Feeder Drivers are union. The package car drivers are union. The guys and gals that load the trucks are union on the both the parcel side and the freight side. We are represented by the Teamsters. Most if not all the mechanics are represented by the International Association of Machinists.

Not all locations operating UPSF equipment is union. Correct me if wrong, some of the southern locations is non union. UPSF is the redheaded step child. not everything is okie dokie fair across the company.

No clue if this has changed since 2012. TL< I never was.

UPS has it's little quirks, Nothing like fed ex and the numerous umbrella confusing color company logos and contractors.:biggrin_2559:

They aren't parcel guys, That is UPSF. Parcel guys is operating a package car ( straight truck ) or Feeders ( tractor trailers with parcels maxing out the trailer/s for volume) LTL is UPSF. TL is also UPSF.

you are way off. ups freight has a national contract, EVERY barn in the country is teamsters. the ups parcel guys are the older, parcel side. either job is one of the best in the industry, mainly because of the excellent union contracts....

this has been straightened out, since the original contract out of indy in 2006 was technically a white paper contract. its now a national contract, and no one is signing onto a "me too" agreement.

also, those truckload guys "might" be union, they negotiated wages and benefits for a new classification of "linehaul" drivers, basically guys running sleeper cab trucks out for the week. I think this is how they are going to eliminate the subcontracting issues, they will have their own "linehaul" guys run the freight for cheaper than the original "road driver" classification.

That "line haul" verbage in the contract was supposed to eliminate outside contractors.... It didn't , and they haven't gotten the response they wanted, so from what Ive been told they aren't hiring for it anymore. I think that was the grand plan of the company in the first place so they could continue to use outside contractors.

You'd make more money with a local, home every night job than any OTR job that I know of.
