I saw the possibility of this coming.
Will be interesting to see how it goes.
If they do not get the concessions then they will go bankrupt.
If they do then there is a possibility that they may get a deal to sell, or may just get going again on there own.
I rather doubt it though. Most likely they will go under anyway. Too many lazy people and exec's that are making money while the company looses everything.

I did not see the lawsuit coming, but certainly felt that concessions create an uneven playing field. It will be interesting to see whether multi-company labor agreements are even legal in a free enterprise system. The National Master Freight Agreement seems to be left over from the days of trucking economic regulation. Now, we shall see whether contract law prevails, especially since both labor and management violated the contract. We shall see whether other companies join the lawsuit on ABF's side. I see this as an historic landmark in labor history. It could be precident setting in contract law. Or, it could be thrown out in an effort to save a big company.

I agree, all the big wigs are making huge money. When thhings go wrong they go to court and when the company goes bankrupt they will all get huge bonuses and the average worker will go home with nothing.

    What's wrong with todays executives?

Uhm...catch me up....... Big R aka YRC is in deep trouble... Got that, so they get the union ( possibly under threat of extinction ) to conceed wages and goodies....ok, got that, like airline pilots but now...ABF is #####in ( lawsuit ) because ? YRC's costs are lower so they can under cut freight rates? Can't ABF screw their drivers too?

    What did I miss??

The precident is already set in the airlines. Pilots, attendants etc. have been doing this for years.

Mind you, I'm against concessions. I just don't believe mgmt.

no, abf can't screw their drivers, they already asked for a concession package and it was voted down. abf might have a case however, since New Penn Motor Express voted down their concessions, and the inernationional made them "vote again" to accept them. Same with the Chicago locals 705 and 710. Chicago always had their own "white paper" contracts that they negotiated seperately with the company, and when they refused the concessions, the international went in and "overrode" their contracts, giving in to the company concessions, even though they voted no. So ABF might have something there, since they asked for concessions and the international didn't "strong arm" concessions for them, like they have at YRC.

It does make it appear that the international is playing favorites with companies, and i hope ABF wins. YRC has shattered whatever was left of the NMFA, and ABF has been stuck holding the bag on an uncompetitive contract at this point.

I think its great that Teamsters got in bed with YRC.(sarcasm)

Im no union man, but thats a scab thing to do. Screwing the brothers over at ABF. Id never be a scab. EVER. It must be a requirement at YRC.

Explain it away company man..... The actions by the members at YRC already said everything we need to know.
