Ok, so the quiet little neighborhood I was parked in was just, well, too little. So I decided to roll 101 south to Ventura. Found a nice little pull off with a passenger side ocean view. (mm35)
Folks, I know trucking has its frustrations, but when a northeast punk like me can wake up to fresh ground coffee and a California sunrise with an ocean view out my bunk window? Yeah man, life is GOOD!
Getting paid for it all is a nice plus too.![]()

That drop in Ardmore is a Best Buy DC. The entrance is right across the street from the entrance to the Flying J. They'll take you an hour or two early. It should take all of an hour from the time you clear the gate going in to the time you leave.chralb Thanks this. -
I'm thinking Wyoming in January would be better. Talk about the pucker factor.

Contrary to what you all apparently think, the sun does actually still rise on the west coast folks. I never said I was looking "at" it. Amatures.MidWest_MacDaddy and JohnBoy Thank this. -
Things a tad screwy at Malano thisv morning. Apparently dispatch isn't here on weekends. I pull in the gate and they say I have to use the next one down the street. So I back out into the street and go there. Then I have to wait in the center lane until the entrance has enough room. While waiting I'm then told to go back to the first gate I was at. After getting turned around they tell me to use the second one.
Is it just me? LOLMidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
But wait! It gets better. After deciding which gate I should go through (as if it matters as they all lead inside the same complex), after going thru the FBI background check, I finally get the paperwork with my loaded trl #, and told where to bump the MT.
Problem is, my loaded trailer is rather empty. Oh, its thev one on the paperwork alright but super light. LOL
I'm sitting here now as the supervisor trys to figure it out. Now she's telling me to either take my empty out or bobtail away. LOL
Calling dispatch now ... lol -
Did you finally get your load?
-
Ask them the time they gave one of our drivers the paper work, the trailer number on the paperwork was sitting in the loaded trailer lot, he hooked to it, got checked out and had the seal checked, drove all the way to Chicago, got to the delivery, opened the trailer, and it was empty. You need to remember, this is Southern California you're dealing with.
MidWest_MacDaddy and chralb Thank this. -
Welp, called dispatch and spoke with Jo. She said she'd do the phone & email thing and see what she can find out. I sit bobtail onsite with the 14 ticking away until I hear something back.
I knew waking up at sunrise looking at an ocean view was too good to last.
Think I'll roll to the upper level and hope I get better phone signal though. I got next to none in this hole in the mountain.
