But what kind of miles are avalable to me?. .50 cpm is no good to me if I am struggling to get 12-1500 miles per week.

One thing I have learned in my 3 short month career. I HATE sitting around. I would rather drive 3000 miles for 30 cpm than 1500 miles for 60 cpm.

Weird huh?. A truck driver that likes driving.

I would rather drive the 1500 for 60. The same money for less work.

Just to be clear, I have not felt forced to drive unsafely.

We left the yard in Richmond at 2pm, which is when my 14 started. But I've spent 2+ years going to bed at 10pm and waking up at 5am 6 days a week, so when 10pm rolled around and I got super sleepy, I told my trainer, we pulled over, he got in the driver's seat, and I went to bed. No pressure on me other than what I put on myself feeling guilty for waking him up.

    JohnBoy and Redtwin Thank this.

Sitting here in Marietta, GA, in the rain, waiting for them to load us up with sugar. Bunch of Miss Congeniality winners behind the desk around here. :D

Backing definitely needs work. The way I was trained to back in CDL class is way different from how truckers actually back up. So it is like I am a brand new student all over again.

My trainer (different company) said forget what you learned in school. I'm here to teach you the right way. And IMO she did. She would have me practice backing almost every day. And not just simple ones. She's find the most jacked up spots in the t/s and have me get out, figure out how to do it, and then get it done, no matter how many pull ups or goals it took. She was awesome!

So, now I know of at least 3 trainers here at Abilene that train the right way. JB, Hudson, and a guy named Dean (who I've heard is a great trainer).

I've had several people tell me I'd be a good one, but I'm kind of like Cranky Yankee (may his screen name rip!) Not too many folks can handle the sarcasm and bluntness. And when I get mad, well... I know female trainers are in demand, but I can't pull that trigger just yet. I don't feel I have enough experience to do it right.

I only list "pti" at start of shift. I never bother with any other shift change descriptions.

There is one there for "rest break" and another for "meal break". Surely we aren't expected to make a log entry if we get hungry during a rest break and want to have a meal.?
