I talked to Sally's boss I think "Mike" said I wouldn't have no home time cause no trainer near me I was willing to drive to wytheville and leave my truck there till home time but the way he talked it wouldn't work out . He seemed like a great guy told me to check back when I got a yr in if I wasen't satisfied with the company I went with.

Exactly. We have a guy refreshing with Terry now who lives between Colombis and Cleveland and Terry lives near Winston Salem. So just make a courtesy call to Sally tell her to keep you in mind and thank her for the opportunity... Then subtely slip in the fact of where you live and etc. i would think you being off of 35 would be an easy drop off point. We really have some guys that pass through there twice a day. Heck I went through there twice Saturday myself. Keep on her. As a former recruiter myself, dont let that hold you back. Im not saying pester them but be persistent! Good Luck!

Have you been wondering lately like I have, just exactly when is this winter going to end?
We got done about noon local time at the cold storage facility in riverside yesterday. There was 5 of us there getting empty. One of the team trucks there was a truck that we kept passing all day Sunday and Sunday night. I drove the 3 miles to the fuel stop up from our drop yard to grab something to munch on while waiting on the next load assignment. It finally came, I need to be in Oceanside today at 10am to load going back to richmond. It delivers Friday morning. I hope to be in Thursday about noon, depending on this next storm.
George got to see the bad side of me yesterday, I hit the roof when I finally got my load info. I put in for my hometime 2.5 weeks ago to be home this Thursday, coming back out on Monday. In my little world I do my thing as put forth by company policy, what's good for me is good for you, I do my part, they didn't do theirs. If I'm lucky, I'll be home Friday. Unacceptable. With all the medical issues my wife is going through, I need to be there. I know this is trucking, but fortunately for myself I have the ways and means to fly home Thursday and come back for my truck next Tuesday. It's an option I'm considering. I flipped out yesterday, George was in the wrong place at the wrong time, I told him maybe he should go with another trainer to finish up his training. He knows how I feel about all this, my family and home far outweigh anything associated with this truck, load, or industry. I'll do my job, you do yours. If at any one time you fail at your end, I'm going to correct it on my end. My birthday on Thursday, my anniversary on Friday pale in comparison to the other issues I have going on. Just to put salt in my wound, my family is putting my favorite Aunt into Hospice. In the grand scheme of life, just how important can this load of Salsa really be? Just wondering. Time to go find George and head down to oceanside. Last week when we were here if took 8 hours to put on 22 pallets, can hardly wait to see what's in store for today.Weeble Kneeble, YardDart, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
Completely understand where you are and your human for feeling that way. It feels like a betrayal of trust. I flipped out before Christmas when they wanted us to deliver those 4 Boars Head stops. We didnt have the hours to do them and make it back to Richmond. It all works out. Keep that steady professional demeanor and put the pressure on dispatch.
By the way, a buddy of mine (former Abilene) ran into David up in MD last week. David has my old truck and someone drove over the front of it at a truckstop! It was duct-taped up!
Keep up the good fight, finish the race, keep the faith!JohnBoy Thanks this. -
This winter is never going to end. At least I am not in Atlanta this round! Terry and his refresher are in TX and have to drive around it. I guess the GA Governor will blame the trucks again.
Its -10 up here now. Im on 94 between Fargo and Minneapolis getting a load to MD...JohnBoy Thanks this. -
JB it is amazing how all companies expect us pick up and deliever on time and 99% of us do but when it comes to hometime I expect to be home 100% on time every time. The exception may be for on unforseen weather but other than that If they expect a driver to be on time our hometime needs to be on time. This comment goes for all companies not just Abilene. There is a reson for company policies saying a far out it needs to be known for a driver to ask for home time. Most drivers pick a certain day for a reason. Its not like you can make an appt. to lets say a doctor and miss the appt and say can you reschedule for tomorrow cause I roll out the following day. As for hometime My family is absolutly means more to me than any job. Ok JB my rants over as you see hometime is my top priority when I have a driving job. Be safe my friend.

Well, got here at 9:45 for a 10:00 appointment. As I thought, my product won't be ready until after 4pm. I'm really pissed off, this is a team truck, not a solo truck. My trip number is from last week, you call for a truck at a certain time and the product isn't ready? For a load that was booked last week? If you knew about this load last week, then was it really a surprise when I showed up today, based on YOUR schedule? What a joke, this whole industry is one screwed up entity. Light at the end of the tunnel? 2 years and 2 days from right now I'm done. My birthday on Thursday has far more meaning to me then normal. I'll be that much closer to hanging this sheet up.
Can you all tell I'm just a little P.O'd?The Challenger, Jrdude5, jlind and 1 other person Thank this.
