He's watching when I'm backing. Telling me how to set up. We had a talk about his music when it's his shift to drive. To please try and keep it minimal. Think we understand each other on that issue a bit more.Lonesome, DrummingTrucker, KD5AXG and 1 other person Thank this. -
5speed Thanks this.

Give it a little more time Chris..maybe things will turn around for you. Good luck and just keep practicing backing. More ya do it, better ya get!

No one could simply pay me enough money to have a stranger tag along for a few weeks!!!
I am not a trainer either but if I were it would be simply to help out a new driver get a good start.
Yes, money is involved but many do it to "pay it forward" or "pass along personal knowledge.
But yes, I am sure many do it for the money. -
I don't believe it's a bad thing . You're just growing new plants for the company garden . Why else run the hose ....certainly the Megas all use trainees as cheap labor . Pat trainers on the back for providing a new resource

Overall he's a pretty decent fella. We get along ok. Just need to focus on the big picture. I'm not leaving, no plans to. I like Abilene and I think I've made a wise decision.
Though once I get underway on my own, I think I'm going to express regional instead of OTR.KD5AXG, Lonesome and DrummingTrucker Thank this. -
I do like the decreased fees for Urgent Care Services... Many OTR may be too far from their normal doctor when the need arises or can't get in to see them if they are booked full.

Obviously, no one is so altruistic, that they are going to do training for NO EXTRA $$ in their pocket. But the conscientious trainers (like John) are also in it to pass on some knowledge and experience to a new driver.
Anyone who is in training simply to run the trainee as "meat in the seat" for miles, and doesn't actually instruct - deserves to be responsible for the mishap his untrained driver causes (in his truck).
Many trainers at the "megas" are in lease trucks and are trying to make some $$'s over their expenses - and use running a team truck as the way to do that. But also keep in mind that the mega's are taking people that have never driven a TT and putting them on the road with a trainer.
No one is "getting rich" off being a trainer. And not all trainers are bad ones, nor are the ONLY in it for the $$.
Very shortsighted to lump everyone together like that...
Rickscottlav46, KD5AXG, Lonesome and 6 others Thank this. -
KD5AXG, Lonesome, SickRick and 1 other person Thank this.
