Uh have to kinda agree with @KD5AXG ,shouldn't have to be my job to go ask for a load.Anyway 500 miles,and 4 pu's today,and I might just end up making my Va drop in time.

 

Anyone ever deliver to dan daniel in newport news?. Trying to get an idea of what the place is like, the comments on google are concerning.

 

If i am on the yard and i want a load i go to the window. Thats seems to be how things are setup to work so i just go along with it.

There are other things i do that i dont feel i should be doing or certainly wasnt informed that it was part of the job, but i do them anyway in order to keep things moving smoothly.

Im not there yet, wont get there until wednesday. Its a broker load with no delivery date or time on the paperwork. Google comments state appt is needed which i guess i will have to make.

The worrying thing were comments to the effect of the lumpers being a free market and you have to pick one of the many begging you for the job. I dont want that kind of hassle.

How am i to know who is legit and isnt a ripoff artist or lazy and will take 10hrs to unload 30 skids?.

 

They don't get paid till the job is done. That's the way was many moons ago. You got something sitting outside the facility

Lol,you won't need to make appt,the broker should handle that.
One time I was on a broker ld to target ,get there need del no,couldn't get in touch with broker the whole trip,let dm know,this was a broker ld through swift.Alright dm calls back,and says got a no for ya,it's to swift headquarters,now why is it my job to call,shouldn't he handle it.That's the kinda thing I lump in with going to the window,do your job,you see me in the yard put a load on me.

 

At Dan Daniels it old school when it comes to lumpers. They are outside the gate begging for you to pick them. They are independent contractors. Pack a lunch, you might be there awhile depending how much break down you have.

 

Thats how i feel about it too. I dont want to have to deal with making appts but i will because i have no other choice at this point.

I dont know if its me projecting negative energy(or if i even believe in that stuff) but broker loads always seem to be fraught with problems.

Maybe we get those to make the gatorade loop and bh brooklyn runs more appealing as i sure wish i was on one of those right now.
