So I pulled off the HP load to Jacksonville ahead of schedule by running 7.5 flat out. After 1.5hrs I'm MT and they send me a LLD 30 minutes away with a firm 12 noon appointment. So I sit in a nearby Pilot with 3:17 on my 11 and the 14 about to cross again. Got 12:22 left on the 70 to get to Newport News VA by noon tomorrow.

I called the shipper asking if the appointment could be moved up to accomodate my hours. They said our dispatch would have to call for that and then only maybe. I asked if I could park there to wait. Nope!

So I called my ..... cough .... DM and left a message with ALL the details. He calls back and starts in on me with a bunch of meaningless crap. Wrong move!! After I gave him what for, if I'm not fired, I'll be in the market for a new DM. ;)

Just hang in there. I used to get really frustrated by wasted time, but somehow the miles and money came good and all the angst wasnt worth it.

Life is much easier if you only concentrate on your end. I know you see glaring issues that should be easily resolved but just try to find a way to ignore them.

Thats what i had to do to preserve my peace of mind and i am enjoying my job so much more than before.

Genuinely sorry to hear you dislike truck driving so much. I have only been doing it 4 months but can easily see how it could be dreadful for someone who didnt like driving

It sucks doing a job you dont like and feel you have dont have a better option. I had one of those for 12 years. Luckily i found this one which i love.

Hopefully you can do the same soon before driving affects your disposition too much.

Thanks red I appreciate that. Being a highly detailed business owner all my life, it's sometimes hard to deal with simple things being dropped all the time. Especially when it costs me time and money. Lol

I remember you were looking when i was last year and had henderson at the top of the list as did i.

Im glad i didnt go there now as things dont seem so good there for others and this company appears to be much better than most "starter" companies.

Its not easy seeing the problem AND a simple solution right in front of you but out of reach. Just have to find a way to concentrate on stuff in your control and forget the rest.

I suspect that is the approach i would have to take no matter which truck company i worked for.

So after all the timing issues with this load I get to the gate and have the wrong pick-up number. Imagine that. So I sent a free-form message telling them and they reply with a number to call so I can get the pick up number.

Right after I sent the free-form message I called dispatch and thankfully Tracy answered. She got right on it and back to me with the right number in less than 5 minutes.

Three cheers for our newest dispatcher Tracy!!!! :)

If they can get me loaded in under 1 hour I can just make the pilot at the 1 in Georgia. Fingers crossed!
