Seems like everyone has very different experiences here and if its like my last job, the quality of ones work product is only a small part of it. Seems like the position of jupiter, the price of tea in china, politics, and the results of a horse race play equal parts too.
As far as window visits and phone calls, i view it just like fueling, pretripping, and paperwork. Yea im not paid, and its not driving, but if it gets me moving or allows me to plan and move more efficently ill do it
Thankfully they keep me rolling for the most part up here in the NE

And now....back to happier trucking stories....Had a unique for me HP load monday morning in southern New Hampshire. Had two open top display cases like the ones in front of the deli counter. They had no wheels and were attached to a giant specially built pallet with another on the side and then braced together. This was then attached to floor. Contractor had me park on two lane road and had a flat bed tow truck winch the cases off and take it the last few hundred feet to the store.
Apparently there is no dock at this store and they were going to have to stand these cases on their side to get them inside the store. Sitting as they should they were about 1 foot narrower than trailer.
Will have ovee 1500 miles since sunday when i deliver in PA tomorrow morning on just shy of 30 duty hours. I know its not for all, but abilene and the ne are treating me just fine. Hope it continesMidWest_MacDaddy, Redtwin, RebelChick and 2 others Thank this. -

Funny... but not quite acurate... Been here over a year and only played the whiner card twice and only recently.
There has always been comments about the "reality" here at Abilene. I actually respect and appreciate such comments.
And you are right, it may not be for everyone. -
My uncle did that in the bronx in the 70s. When i was staying with them during summer holidays he used to swing by the house and pick me up before he started his deliveries.
I had to duck down out of sight when we saw the cops or another of the company oil trucks. He used to carry plastic drinking straws so we could drink water from the open fire hydrants that were flooding the streets so kids could play in the water.
Fun times, no wonder i like trucks now.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
