Sitting at halls now. Last week was crazy. The delivery was pushed back on my cases to nyc, which i found out onscene, and told to come back to richmomd. Got to ladysmith and stopped due to hos. Told to take cases to warehouse in hillside nj. Find warehouse. Told right address wrong facility. Turns out "warehouse" meant about 10 old trailers and a office space. Cases made it from one trailer to the other without incident. Then ran like heck back to richmond. Made it with 6 min on 11 and 15 on 14 and drove 667 miles on 95.
While at "warehouse" another abilene showed up. He made it to original drop in manhattan around 1030 or so. Roughly 2 hours after i called them saying no room in the inn.....
Had a much needed rest/reset. Didnt do any housework, was a wee bit tired after driving 3512 actual miles sunday to saturday on 3283 dispatched miles.

Sounds a bit busy. Would reefer be better when it comes to appointments and easier access? (most refrigerated destinations are outside many cities).

For me the only issues i usually have are with broker loads to get back to richmond. They can come from anywhere. I run ne regional and i haul alot for our customers going out and then get a load back to virginia. And its usually some type of warehouse (reefer or dry) or a grocery store for our customers.
The otr guys might have more varied experiences than i do.Rocknroller4 Thanks this. -
What exactly are Broker loads? Do reefer drivers have to deal with things like that?
-
All drivers haul reefer and dry van . Only 'divisions' would be otr and ne regional. But any driver could be asked to go to any of the 48 states, or any place there within. You will haul some of both here. Pay is relatively simple for brand new drivers. .36 cpm all dispatched miles loaded empty dry reefer, .10 bonus on ne miles (md, pa, and up) $50 for nyc.
We have certain direct customers in virginia and other places who we haul their loads going out. Then instead of coning home empty, abilene calls a broker who is like a middleman and connects places that have loads to be shipped with conpanies wanting to transport loads. Our direct customer loads usually go smoothly, (and kinda spoil us) and broker loads usually go a little less smoothly.MidWest_MacDaddy and Rocknroller4 Thank this. -

Slept like a baby once I was tired enough. -
Yup... I like the truck when it's cool/cold out and sleep best under a pile of blankets when I can see my breath...
But summer... Trucks running 24/7....
Guess it all averages out... LOL -
Please do... We need the cage rattled every now and then...
-
That's ok... I left the numbers game.
Just enjoying the ride and the view for now.
