You carry the stuff he just mentioned and you'll be covered for all your needs. As you go along, you'll add to it, but these are your true survival things.

Yes, the less complex ones life is the more trucking will fit them as a lifestyle... add spouse, kids, mortgage.... then it's a lot more difficult in the lifestyle area... if you have no strings and a sense of adventure, trucking could be quite interesting.

We are empty nesters and our mortgage is covered and yet I have having a very hard time getting out of this house and back to the truck after vacation... just never enough time.

    But rolling soon.

    JohnBoy Thanks this.

Yes, that's my attitude. I'll do whatever is needed.

Just interested in what sort of runs I'll get. Honeymoon phase type runs?

I was thinking the same thing, but my wife won't budge from south Florida.

You too. Now you know there's just an old woman dreaming of being young behind the name! :D

Yep. I agree. If I'm OTR, run me so I'll be out at least 4 days before having to come back to the black hole.

Must be nice to have that luxury. I don't think I've had much fun in the last 28 years. (That's how old my kid is.) Been too busy trying to keep it all together with not much support.

With this being an election year (and a weird one at that), it's slower than normal. But dang! The farther away from Richmond and the east coast you are, the better. That way you get better (broker or otherwise) loads to keep rolling. If you're near the black hole, you're stuck waiting or doing busy work (AGAIN) since home time is close.
