I've tried to split sleeper a couple of times. I couldn't make it work, either. I was told, matter of factly, to NOT split sleeper. But, there has been a couple of times that it would have saved me some time. I ended up throwing up my hands and said screw it. I have not tried it since.

The easiest way i know how to explain split sleeper is this. Atleast 8 hours in the sleeper berth "pauses" your 14 hour clock . This can be more than 8 too. The other break has to be atleast 2 hours off duty or sleeper, but can be more. This break does NOT stop 14 hour clock.
You start your new hours calculation from the end of your last qualifying break "set" or both breaks. The graph page on qualcomm is great for this.
Example...start with full clock. Drive 5 hours and use 6 duty hours. Then mark sleeper. You now have 6 drive hours and 8 duty hours left. Your 14 keeps clicking then restores after 8 hours to in this case, 8 hours. Now you drive 6 more hours using 8 duty hours with several short breaks but no 2 hour break. This uses all your duty time before you take a 2 hour break. Now you start counting at end of 8 hour sleeper, or last "set" of breaks. So now you have 5 more drive and 6 more duty till you need another sleeper.
Split sleeper does not give more drive and actually takes 2 duty hours. But is great for moving drive time around traffic in the northeast. -
Thanks all. All the Gatorade I have hauled has been mostly to wintersville and just one to orly.

That was a tasty little number a few days ago. Blindside back off the street, dodge the parked cars, the column holding up a very low roof, a big dumpster and another short yellow pole on my blindside.
I got out of the truck and walked around it for a couple minutes trying to figure out how I got it in there.dennisroc, MidWest_MacDaddy, chralb and 1 other person Thank this. -

Thanks,I wash it at the yard when I get a chance. The tire guy always tries to run me off when he sees me though. Not sure what his deal is as I am nowhere near his bay when I am washing it. -
Redtwin Thanks this.

I drove a KW during training for a couple weeks. It has a couple foibles im not fond of, but overall I found them to be better (comfort, quietness etc) than the volvo. My truck handles great and the transmission is really good, especially creep mode when backing, but it doesnt feel anywhere as high a quality product as the KW.
5speed Thanks this.
