Let's take the moment to reflect.......folks, I truly appreciate professional drivers/trainers, such as JB...and my trainer I had back in the day at Marten Transport. One of the things my trainer always harped on was the same thing JB was advising George about. PARK to LIVE, PARK to Stay Alive! Observe the lot, pick the easiest spot you can if you have the option. One thing I still do to this day, when I pull up in a line where everyone is parked the same....I'm the truck that is 2-3 feet behind the "row." In a case like this...it clearly helped.

Thanks for the reminder JB! :) Glad you made it out without a scratch. The sad part is these Cowboys obviously didn't have good training like some of us out there.

BTW....does Boars Head give out free samples???? :biggrin_255:

Getting empty in Brooklyn, my 8pm swap was a little late, like 5.5 hours worth. At midnight last night Bo calls me to tell me the other driver got tired and stopped at the 29mm in Glade Spring at the Petro and could I go down there to do the swap. I told him if I did that would put an extra 110 miles on my trip and I wouldn't make Brooklyn in time. I was told to hold on, he came back to tell me the other driver would be there at 1am. He was, I hooked, did my pretrip then left. I had a 9 hour ride, stopped once for coffee and once right at daylight to take a 30 minute hi speed nap over the steering wheel. I got here at 11:30, got backed right in and waiting for my trailer to get unloaded. I got a deadhead move back to richmond. I should be there about 4am. I'm beat, all I want to do is get out of here and go to sleep .

Empty and sitting at a service plaza on the NJTPK. I got here with a log violation for 11 minutes, oh well, sure beats taking my 10 hour break in Brooklyn. I'll get up at 1am and drive down to the Richmond yard. I should be there at 6am. Nite nite all.

I got up at 1am and left to drive the last 255 miles back to the Richmond yard. After stopping for coffee I got to the yard at 7am. I dropped my empty, went in to see dispatch and grabbed a load sitting on the yard that delivers 5am in Mauldin SC. I hooked up and fueled and was leaving the yard at 8am. It's 379 miles to my drop so I decided to drive down to the Loves in South Hill Va and take my 10 hour break here In order to get off this night schedule. I'll leave here at 7:30 to drive the 310 miles down to Mauldin and finally get on a normal schedule. I see a Perdue chicken load for tomorrow in Dillon Sc.

I just got done cleaning this truck on the inside, from top to bottom. Just enjoying the almost 70 degree weather. Then to my horror, I checked the weather, winter storm set to hit tomorrow thru Monday with up to 6 inches of snow here in Richmond. I'm really over this.

No kidding! I am so over this snow-a-thon of a winter! Someone should have shot that groundhog!
Talked to Scott about my next trainee. Its a "Jones" project he says. Kurtis's son in law if I recall correctly. Fresh from school. George will be released to the wild in the next 2 weeks. He's ready... Couple more trips up North and you are graduated! We need to cover the questions you will be expected to know when you test. You already know the answers really.
I may be a little overly optimistic but I bought 2 new pairs of shorts today. I think I will wear them in the snow anyway!
