Yup... grab the load and roll... if it's ready at noon you can still get 11 in before too late.
Personally, I would not add a second 10 to the load just to adjust the run times to earlier vs later, if possible... but that just me. -
Welcome to the thread and to Abilene!!!
As you come across questions, and you will, feel free to ask them here or via PM... most everyone here is willing to help out as they can. -
Showing it together is smart, but you don't have to actually charge all that time. 10 minutes is good. And if you were fueling at the beginning of the day, don't start your clock until you go inside to get your last minute things done(last restroom break, etc after you pull up). Or at the end of the day. Sometimes you can go on duty for 10 minutes just waiting to get up to the pump. Then you fuel and park it.
For my 30, if I must fuel, I combine it, but I try to stop at rest areas if it's during the day. Easier/faster in/out. But I've been on night shift since Thursday so all bets are off!!!
I had to do that the other night in the pouring down rain near Shreveport at midnight. At that time of night I avoid rest areas. I've no issue with just pulling on a ramp in the middle of the night but I was on one of those loads I couldn't do that so pulled up to the very last island behind 2 other trucks probably doing the same thing. Got my 30 in and rolled out.Redtwin, MidWest_MacDaddy, JohnBoy and 1 other person Thank this. -
And although you were assigned a load in the opposite direction, you communicated with your FM and things worked out... correct?
Being flexible will come in handy though... from time to time.
Enjoy that hometime.ChrisL Thanks this. -

Well, after visiting with mom yesterday, I hit Bloomington today... Rover has picked up the puppy for the night and enterprise will be picking me up soon. Lunch at the Sorority House, Tailgate at the Stadium, Game, then out bar hopping...
This old man is going to need a nap!!!!
If I need bail money, I am sure one of my fellow Drivers will step up to help me out... right?

Ok, so questions were asked, here is my run:
PU from HPh plant 1. (Trl is still being loaded. Ukwn ready time.)
Deliver in Lake Charles, La 8am Monday.
Approx miles: 1161.
In that time, I will stop shortly to pick up the wife and dog at the Pilot in Satsuma, Al. I-65, exit 19.
Now, my limitations prevent me from driving much past 8pm eastern. My body clock shuts down, and I become unsafe to drive. I'm MUCH safer starting early. Also, I am on a diuretic. Meaning I have to pee more than normal (which SUCKS, by the way). So, I must stop every 2 to 3 hours for a break. Not always, but more often than not. Stopping like that also allows me to work my messed up knees and keep them from stoving up, as they will do quite often. (Nothing like falling out of the truck because a leg quits working. (Yes, it's happened once since I've been here.))
I have a Garmin and Rand McNally trucking GPS's. I don't use the QC for GPS. IT is far too unreliable. It's Main job is to hold my satellite radio module and keep it off my dash.
I have some time, so I'll take any and all realistic advice on planning this trip. My current plan is to get as far as I safely can today, get rolling ASAP tomorrow but stop early enough to get up early enough to make it to the drop site as early as possible. I'm expecting a 20 hr drive with 10's and breaks taken out, which leaves me with 23 hrs to make it there on time. All this is based of if I can leave right now, but my load isn't ready yet. No available ready time.
