I'm home, got here at 2:15 this morning, as expected my wife was waiting for me where I park my truck, what a woman. I rested all day today. I have to leave at 3am to drive down to Key West to unload in the morning. For those of you that aren't familiar with the drive down there it's 125 miles of 2 lane road with a bunch of little towns to go through. At that time of morning I won't have any traffic issues until I get to Key West, and then only for a mile or so, from where the overseas highway ends at Roosevelt Blvd, my delivery is only a mile away.

I'm so jealous!!!!! Never been to Key West. It's #1 on my list of places I want to go. And isn't it cool not to have to worry about your pay!?

I'm back home. I left at 2:30 this morning, drove down to Key West in the rain the whole way and was empty by 7:30. I sent in my empty call and was told to dead head back to the house and take my hometime. I will be leaving out on Friday, right now it's time for some sleep.

The first picture is me at 7:30 this morning getting my coolers unloaded in Key West. We aren't allowed in the trailer during unloading. Every store we deliver to has an installation crew there that unloads these things. Some are at a dock, some are tailgated like this one. My biggest chore on these deliveries is too make sure all the nails are pulled out of the floor and to sweep the trailer. This is a whole new concept about delivering to a grocery chain.

The second picture was taken last Tuesday in Plano Tx at a new Walmart. I woke up and there was 7 of us with coolers on all delivering at the same time. I was number 2 in line. It took them about 2 hours to unload all of us.

And as much as this sickens me, I feel compelled to share this photo with everyone. This was one of our trucks that was brought back to the yard last weekend from Florida. Our driver was hit headon by a drunk driver that decided to commit suicide while going the wrong way on I-95. Last I heard our driver was still hospitalized and has endured 3 operations, the drunk driver? Funeral arrangements are pending.

In this case, knowing all good and well the drunks family will probably sue the trucking company, this is when the dash cam we have in our trucks and the electronic logs will have a huge impact on the outcome of the lawsuit.

Very sad , I know a driver that has been hit 3 times by actual suicide drivers over the past 30+ years

It's something we always have in the back of our mind. Thanks for the prayers.

3 times? If that was me I would have hung up my driving sneakers after the first one.

My wife and I were talking about this scenario just the other day. I always wonder what I would do if presented with this chain of events. Do I swerve, maybe roll over my truck and trailer and in return save the other persons life? All the while probably killing myself. I always have said that whatever I do, I want to come back home after my run driving the vehicle I left with, not in a hearse.
