Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Got to keep the left door closed most of the day today. Laid down 630 miles in 10 hours, which is a personal best for me since coming out of training.

Unfortunately, my appointment time isn't until tomorrow at 8:00pm. So I will be sitting at the truck stop all day long until it's time to roll over to the warehouse, where they probably won't have me unloaded until midnight. Which means that I almost certainly wont have another load assignment until Monday morning, and there won't be any truck stop parking spaces available so I'll have to sleep in the warehouse yard.

 

You got that right. I heard Richmond was a green truck dealership. Two of my friends have already quit. Said there miles have been on a steady decline as of late and same problem you're having about getting home. Hopefully you'll get something, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Disappointing as somebody who has kept this company on the short list if things go awry where I am now just due this thread.

 

You can always do the pay to park thing. Better than sitting at a customer.

 

Did you remember to set your clock back last night?

 

If there are any paid spots left, been to at least 3 trucks tops where they were all reserved. I would stay put if I could. I would rather miss a shower for the night than risk a parking ticket or worse if I had to resort to a ramp or shoulder.

 

Now you know the exact feeling I had while sitting in TX my 2nd week here. You know the story bud and I did post it here as well. Nothing worse or more degrading than silence and being ignored.

When it comes to "I don't care what, just tell me SOMETHING", it's gone way too far off track.

 

You know you can reserve in advance right?

Maybe just to roll over early and you might get lucky and they can slip you into a dock way before your appointment time. You still might not get another load until morning but you can get unloaded early and be empty and waiting.
