Need to hit a Target and a grocery store and clean house a little. By the time I get home I will have been gone a total of 5 weeks. The most time out at one stretch in 7 years. I have run out of everything. My wife made me promise her years ago not to do laundry on the road so I need to buy a few new pair of jeans and skivvies. I lost 25 pounds the last few months so I can use a few new clothes. That's my day, right now I'm getting ready to go shower, then I'll walk across the street to the IHOP for breakfast.chralb, bigred81, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this.

Once again, two trucks out of BH, Groveport to same two locations... and I only have ONE pallet of 120# to drop here.
Oh well, job security through inefficiency... LOL -
You are a better man than I am. Most I ever stayed out was 2 weeks and that did not happen too often. Ran into an Indian River driver who was out for over 4 months, he told me. I guess I am a "#####" but I am going home every few days and I am going to stay a day or two when I get there. Life is too short. Now maybe for a single person who has no family but I still couldn't do it then. One thing I like about hauling milk, when I get empty, I don't call anybody, I just point the truck towards the house.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this.

It is "sweet" as far as getting home, but it is cheap. But I am "retired" and this suits me better than anything that I have found. Been in this business going on 54 years, tried about everything in the transportation, especially the last 20 years since "retirement" and once in a great while, we will get a backhaul, 99% of time, deadhead home. Bad thing about hauling milk and especially cream, hours spent at dairies trying to get unloaded. Don't know how milk haulers will survive under ELDs.
I see you are from Gastonia, NC I was born and raised about 50 miles up the road, spent my first 27 years of life in Spindale. -

Believe me, this won't happen again, after 38 years of this insanity, those days of constant living in a truck just ain't my cup of tea. 2-2.5 weeks then home for 4 days is were I am in my comfort zone. I really can't complain though, Abilene has been real good with my home time the 4 years I'm here. This screw up was a great learning curve, for the new load planner that messed up, let's just say he now understands my point of view.chralb, mitrucker, gntorres61 and 2 others Thank this.
