You will eventually start to miss it again. Well, maybe not Brooklyn, but you will miss the road again someday.

 

Yea, my dad said the same thing. He even misses it sometimes, and he's been retired for about 2 years

 

I was home daily for three years. The grind of local work finally got to me. Work, sleep, repeat 6 days a week for three years. I took this regional job in July. I have come to the conclusion that it's probably time to get out of the truck.

 

Hey Abileenees! Headed off to Mississippi with Total right after Thanksgiving. Hoping to see you at Olive Branch en vez de cuando (now and then). Hoping you all have a great holiday at home. Johnboy (best to Leslie, Honey and Cocoa) and Rebelchick, you are still my favorites. My best to you and the others McChatty included. Love following your blog! It's the undisputed champ!

 

My only Target load DC went to the mountains of NC and took 3-4 hours to unload. Sucked!

 

All my target loads have been trailer drops. I would rather have those than a live unload even if it comes with free breakfast.

 

Got a load assignment within 15 minutes of ending my 3-stop trip down here. "Great!" I thought.

Seconds later I got a phone call from Don. My load assignmment has a side-trip: Pick up a fellow Abileeney whose truck has broken down and take him to his new truck.

I was two hours and change away from the guy when I started rolling his direction. Called him. Said "Hey, I'm two hours and change away."

I get there and see that the truck repair place is pretty tight and won't accommodate my trailer. So I went around the corner to a nearby CDL school and asked 'em if I could drop my trailer in their yard for 15-20 minutes while I go get this guy. They said "Sure, shouldn't be a problem if you're only going to be that long."

Bobtail around the corner back to the Volvo dealership/repair place and park next to his truck near the service bays.

AND THEN he starts packing up his truck.
