Spending the night in the Wytheville yard.

Maybe one of you old-timers can explain something for me: I was given a load assignment to grab a trailer at Hill Phoenix and bring it down and drop it in the Wytheville yard.

Only, when I get to HP, the trailer I'm picking up is due to be delivered in Ohio on 12/5.

Am I wrong in thinking that I am just adding extra miles to the eventual delivery load assignment by bringing it down here to Wytheville? Isn't Wytheville sorta in the opposite direction from Ohio?

You're closer to Ohio there in Wytheville then you would be in Richmond.

So I'm dropping in Elkridge, MD in a few hours and noticed they only gave me one huge packet for BOL... I thought it was two smaller packets.... if this normal? If I leave it the I don't have a copy to Transflo unless I wait for them to open in the morning. Maybe get a copy made there? Also, this is the place we drop in drops 27/28 if available... do we open the doors or do they want it sealed up until they do it? Are there empties to grab there if I drop my trailer?

Don't think I've been here since training over a year ago...

    Thanks.

I would take a pic of the bol, then open doors, leave broken seal in plain sight, put trailer in door then grab an empty. Not saying that is how it should be done.

They don't check seal numbers anyway so doubt there would be an issue if you broke it. Last time I was there was during training and they had us bobtail back to the yard as no empties available.

Thanks, but I kinda wanted to avoid asking for something I am not entitled to. If I knew the criteria such as X amount of hours/days waiting for a load or to deliver etc, then I would feel better requesting layover.

That and they probably figure there is more storage space there than at Richmond.

Yeah, but not enough to make up the difference. According to Google Maps, I'm 111 miles closer to Fairlawn, OH here in Wytheville than I was in Richmond. But I had to drive 258 miles to get here. So I added 147 miles total to the delivery mileage of this trailer.

Still, it ain't my money. I'm just curious more than anything.

I guess they could of just let you sit in Richmond until they had a better load for you.

If I had somewhere to plug it in, I would've; however, when I got this truck and plugged it in at home, it did something (not sure what, but it trips my bathroom GFI plug and that one. Not only that does it, but anything I plug in out there now does it.) to said plug and I've yet to be able to get it fixed. Usually, I will run the truck a while each day to keep the batteries charged, but the truck wasn't really high on my priority list. Besides, 3 days usually doesn't kill it, but it did get pretty cold on the last night before I tried to start it.

Have a friend lending me a battery charger, so I'm going to get it on there today and let it trickle charge for a while. I'm hoping the Dr will release me this afternoon so I can get back out tomorrow. I'm getting lazy just sitting at the house!
