I've got the Baby it's cold outside song dancing in my head now for the last 2 days! Sitting just 15 miles from Columbus. Freezing rain out there, so I'm waiting for a little bit of light to creep out of this packed t/s. The guy on my right is so close to me that I can touch his truck (not his mirror, his truck), so hopefully I will be able to get out! Then on to gencol and back to the yard. Just might sort of salvage a really crappy pay period.

I dressed down my DM a little bit Thursday for my lack of miles and something that CM did at the window on Wednesday evening. I was polite about it, but really not backing down. Still got sort of screwed in the end, but better than original plan. There were a couple guys I know that started to come in the lounge area while we were having that discussion and turned around and walked right back out. Once it was done, they came in and asked me why he was double talking me. Yeah, he tries to do that when I put him on the spot! But, we got it worked out (sort of) and now I'm freezing my out!!!

Me too kiddo. Although I'm now an "employee", having been self employed my whole life, I look at this job as a business relationship between Abilene and myself. So, on the business side, I'm not so impressed. But on the personal side of things, it's why I'm still here as well. I have always, and still do say I really like all the folks here and have made real friends. :)

Now if we could just iron out at least some of the business shortcomings, this outfit would be top notch! ;)

Gencol is nothing but a sheet of ice. I'd advise not to come here right now. I'm stuck in the lot. Was stuck on the entrance road, but kitty litter saved me from there. Got backed into a spot, but can't unhook from the trl cause if I do, I'm going to slide sideways and I might not be able to stop it from going into the ditch. So, here I sit, hoping it will warm up a bit to melt some of what looks to be 1-2 inch thick ice where the gravel is, since they can't salt this. I just lurve winter. NOT.

And on THAT we agree... :D

As with you, my prior experience is not in the Trucking Industry but rather in the processes and procedures of the back office environment and I must constantly roll my eyes at what I see happening with such things as banking time off, paying driver referrals, communication is bad and a waste of time, and the constant power positioning between office and drivers... all helping to create a barrier between "us and them" while adding additional rows of bricks to the top layer.

And maybe the larger group of Abilene Drivers at Large require such tactics... maybe this little subset of Abilene Drivers on TTR are the exception to the norm... who knows... LOL

Don't get me wrong, as we all know most of us like it here for one reason or another but when this former Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, and Financial Auditor could not reconcile his first few paychecks and could not get "straight answers" from my fellow bean counters, and because of my background I knew BS when I heard it too, I knew then this was going to be an interesting ride... LOL

    Stay Safe,
    MD

And @chralb ... thoughts and prayers for your lady's injury and quick recovery from it too. Good that she has you around and willing to help her out as needed, if/when possible... peace.

Good ole kitty litter. Thanks for the reminder. Been meaning to restock but keep forgetting with everything else going on.

No kidding huh? In Groveport Thursday it was 9 degrees all day and night. One of the major items on my truck's repair list is the idle cut off sensor thought it was 40. o_O So of course, it wouldn't idle without me babysitting the pedals. The bunk heater works great but kills the batteries (or very, very close) overnight. Last time up there a couple weeks ago it was 29 and the truck just barely started in the morning. (and they're new batteries as of August).

This time at 9 degrees, I had to get up every two hours and start the truck to make sure I didn't end up stuck with dead batteries. I took a screen shot on my phone of the current weather and temp and then a picture of the dash temp reading to prove to the shop there's an issue ... lol
