Greetings to all! Thanks to @MidWest_MacDaddy for some help finding this thread. I'm looking for some advice. Here's my situation; I received my Class A CDL in 1998, earned it based on prior landscape / construction driving experience with the help of a local lumber yard. Drove a day cab and 45' flatbed locally for 2-3 years, did some intermodal, and regional vans & flats in a sleeper cab untill 2005, then drove recycle trucks and very small combination unit (day cab w/ 30' flat) delivering new dumpsters until 2007. I have not driven commercially since then. Went back to school and been working in an office...can't stand it any longer. I've tugged equipment trailers and camper trailers around with my pickup since then so I can still back up (LOL). I'm interested in Abilene for their training options. I've kept my CDL and medical card up to date but all my experience was with only a few small companies who are out of business so it's not verifiable. I was wondering if that would be an issue. The recruiter I spoke to briefly said they'd look at it on a case by case basis. Any thoughts? I'm under a contract with my current job until July so Ive got some time to sort things out. I live about half way between Richmond and Whytville so I'm looking at doing the NE regional with Abilene hopefully. Thanks again.
Crusader66 Thanks this. -
They hired me straight outta CDL school with no experience whatsoever. So worst-case scenario, you've still got a Class A CDL.
Crusader66 Thanks this. -
That's good to know. That seemed to be the impression I got from the recruiter.I think he was in a bit of a hurry to get off the cold call that wasn't going to pay off right away. Lol. I'm pretty sure my driving skills would come back to me fairly quickly, at least I hope.Crusader66 Thanks this.

Which Macks does Abilene use for the NE regional? Are they flat-tops or can a guy 6'2" stand up in them?
