I had about 4 years unverifiable class b experience ending in 2001 and got hired. Prior to being hired the last time I drove a tractor-trailer was during CDL school in 1995.

Never been in one, but have heard that headroom while in driver's seat is kinda tight. @460/580 has a Mack and isn't short (don't know his exact height) so maybe he will chime in.

460/580 and slick mick Thank this.

Drove on just like that at another company. No issues with headroom or legroom. I'm 5'11" and could stand up in the sleeper. Not the nicest of accommodations, but it worked. It was strictly a work truck.

I've never even seen the inside of one. I'm 6'4" and the fleet manager told me there was no way he would assign a Mack as I would not fit.

MidWest_MacDaddy and slick mick Thank this.

I have one of the macks and its a midroof. Plenty of room for me to stand up 510ish,but do have to duck to get to the front seat. Enough head room for me. Spring ride front, rougher ride compared to other otrtrucks. It has a small fridge and closet. The bed is comfotable and pretty much like any other truck bed.

Shes perfect for me running ne regional out of richmond. Its rare that im in it more than 3 or 4 days in a row. Im sure you could bring the xbox, play station, tv, microwave, and the kitchen sink, but youll be movig it around all the time and prolly sleeping with it. Lol

I was in a spare kenworth last week amd the sleeper felt uuge comparatively. If i were otr and gone more, i probably wouldnt like the mack as much.

@mitrucker summed it up best. Its a work and sleep truck, nothing more.

I need to update my math, but the usual for me running ne regional out of richmond va is 2200 to 2300 miles, 1 nyc trip, 1 10 hr break at home, 1 34 reset on weekend, home friday evening leave sunday morning. I also commute to the yard as i live 15 to 20 miles away. Im willing to run 24/7 and usually end up driving all of the 24 hours during the week.

All dispatched miles north of virginia and pennsylvania east have a .10 per mile bump which is slightly more than 25 percent increase. Nyc pays 50 bucks. I did a post awhile back(to lazy to look) where i did the math for how much that bonus system was worth. And on approximately 4400 miles it was worth 950 more paid miles. So to me being home is worth it and i dont feel like im missing out on lots of money.

If you go regional they can still send you anywhere as im headed to indianapolis for tomorrow. @slick mick if you have any other questions feel free to pm or ask here

    Thanks @460/580 and everyone else!
I live about half way between Richmond and Whyteville so I guess I could take the truck home? I drove a lot of NE regional years ago so I don't mind it but I'm wondering if I might like to go with their East of the Mississippi regional just for something a little different.

You're also not guaranteed to get a Mack if you run NE regional. I know at least two NE regional drivers who drive a KW.
