I thought last year I had a "total paid per Diem" amount above the actual W2... I could be wrong.
You are correct, as it is an expense being reimbursed by the company, then it is not income to the driver.
My last job I had access to a Per Diem and a company car... both increased my net benefit from working for the company but was never considers income. So I had a free lunch every day, as well as breakfast and dinner if working away from the home office, and drove a company car to and from work... while it would have been nice to include this as income for loans, credit ratings, SS, etc... it was just a benefit provided via company expense ... the difference was I was paid per Diem above my wages earned rather than having it reclassified after the fact. But the end result is the same.
So yes, you are correct... the amount paid to the driver as a per Diem does not reflect as income to the driver.

Darn, this trucking is tough to get use too after 2 weeks off. I need another vacation.
Crusader66, MidWest_MacDaddy, Rocknroller4 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't know how anyone could do trucking if you had almost daily headaches in the morning. What is holding me back at the moment from doing it. I suffer from TMJ. I'd hate to have to drive 11 hours with one. Sucks because I really want to give this career a chance.

Ok, was back OTR ... for one day...
730 miles too!!!... new personal best... LOL
Helped a friend by driving a rental truck and car hauler from NC to South Florida for her.
I saw several Big Green Trucks!!! But no one waved back at me... maybe because I was in a yellow Penske 16' Box Truck with Car Hauler in tow.... LOL
Miss being out there with All Y'alls...

Got to Richmond last night after dropping my loaded trailer at the Wilson drop yard. Picked up an empty reefer and brought that to Sabra. Then ran over to the DC and picked up my loaded trailer going to Marysville Washington for Monday. Time to hit the shower then head out.
MidWest_MacDaddy and Crusader66 Thank this.
