Made my delivery on time this morning. Right now doing a reset. 4200 miles in 6 days will use up hours quickly. Last week was my 39th year of this insanity, and let me just say this, this was the hardest, most stressful winter run I've ever had.
When I got this load last Wednesday night, I did my usual trip planning, not for the route, but for the weather. The best way to lessen the impact was to run up through Wisconsin, Minnesota, across North Dakota and run 94 into Montana. I missed the mess in Wyoming, but got nailed between, Eau Claire Wi and Minneapolis. ND was manageable as was most of MT. But all the mountain passes had heavy snow and I was able to beat the chain law over Lookout and Snoqualmie.
I have an appointment in the morning at the KW dealer to find out why my engine temp wont rise past 125 degrees, my outside temp reading anywhere from 25 degrees to 140 degrees, a check engine light that came on when this started and my heater blowing warm air, not hot. The shop said it's all related and probably a sensor. We shall see, meanwhile, I'm enjoying my much need relaxation.

Reset is up, truck is out of the shop, and I have my load assignment sitting on my QC. I have 2 pick ups, Albany OR and Nampa ID, then head back to Richmond. 3090 miles out, 3310 back. 6400 miles in 10 days. This load back east will take me across wonderful Wyoming.

Back on the road after taking the truck on hometime for the first time ever. I had planned on parking at a turnpike service Plaza but when I got there is saw a bunch of no overnight/ will be towed signs so it didn't get off to a good start. I chanced it for a couple days, but spent most of the time stressing about the truck so I went back and moved it a paid parking truck stop. Only cost $208, but that is still significantly cheaper than a towing bill.
I know noone will believe this but I actually missed my truck while I was off and was glad to get back in it and hit the road, just felt more like I was home. My next hometime won't be as long (10 days) next time, partially because it costs so much in parking and lost income and also because I just prefer being in my truck.MidWest_MacDaddy and Crusader66 Thank this. -
Blessed are the warehouses that let you sleep on their yard after a late-night appointment.
